Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is January 18, 2010

The Office of the Secretary is collecting winter wear for our neighbors in need.

The Office of the Secretary of the District of Columbia is proud to partner with Serve DC to present the 2010 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Mayor Fenty asks all residents to celebrate Dr. King's legacy by turning community concerns into citizen action.

On MLK Day 2009 over 35,000 volunteers participated in community service projects throughout the District. Register your project now or view a listing of available projects!

The Office of the Secretary’s service project, “A Warm Winter for 2010,” is collecting winter clothing for distribution to shelters that serve our homeless neighbors. Our goal is 100 percent participation by agency staff, and we welcome all members of the public and DC Government staff to drop off items to any of our four collection sites:

  • Executive Office of the Secretary of the District of Columbia: John A. Wilson Building, Suite 419
  • Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances: 441 4th Street, NW, Suite 520 South
  • Office of Notary Commissions and Authentications: 441 4th Street, NW, Suite 810 South
  • Office of Public Records: 1300 Naylor Court, NW

Please bring in clean hats, scarves, gloves and sweaters in good condition.
